Which boiler suits my home?
These are considerations, not sizing recommendations. Central-heating output and hot-water output are separate figures, and the right one for your home depends on your radiators, water pressure and how the hot water is used. We confirm sizing by assessment — we never size a boiler by bedroom count alone.
- Apartment or small home
- Fewer radiators and one bathroom usually means a lower hot-water output is worth considering. Space, flue position and gas supply matter as much as output.
- Three-bedroom home
- Often one bathroom plus a cloakroom. Hot-water demand at peak times, not bedroom count, is the useful question here.
- Five-bedroom or larger home
- Higher simultaneous demand. A combi may still suit, but a system boiler with a cylinder is often worth comparing. This needs an assessment.
- Radiator count
- The number and size of radiators drives the central-heating side. Around 20 radiators or more is a case for a heat-loss calculation rather than a rule of thumb.
- One shower
- A single shower is usually straightforward, though mains water pressure and flow at your property still decide real performance.
- Two showers used at once
- Combi hot water is shared between outlets. Running two showers together needs a proper look at flow rate and pressure before choosing an output.
